Membership questions

Who can become a member of UPPL?

Anyone aged 18 or above who subscribes to the party's aims and objectives, is not a member of another political party registered with the Election Commission of India, and is not a member of any organisation whose aims run against the party's. You sign a declaration on the membership form.

Is UPPL membership free?

Joining online is free for now. Under the party constitution members pay a monthly subscription (₹10 a month for a primary member, and more for committee members), which the website will collect once online payments open.

What are general and active members?

Everyone joins as a general member. After at least one year, a general member who has taken an active part in party programmes can become an active member, and active members vote in the party. The Central Working Committee may also invite eminent people as special invitees.

How long does membership last?

Three years from approval. You can renew from 90 days before it ends, and your membership number stays the same.

How do I join UPPL online?

Create an account at uppl.org.in, open Membership, and fill in your details and your polling station. The party office reviews your application; once it is approved you receive a membership number and a digital membership card.

How can I check whether a UPPL membership card is genuine?

Scan the QR code on the card, or enter the membership number at uppl.org.in/verify. The page shows whether the membership is active.

Can I update my application after submitting it?

Yes, until the party office has reviewed it. Open Membership in your account and save your changes.
